On the back of our cookbook is the "cuter"
story of how Janet and Joan collected all 400 (and more!) recipes. Here is how
the real story goes . . .
Yes, we really did travel through the
state of Vermont and knock on farm door after farm door asking for their
recipes. we were invited into their barns and into their homes, and even into
their pastures!
No matter how busy they were, they made
time to talk to us. They talked about raising kids and Vermont history, taxes
and cleaning hose, gardening and farm chores. Yes, we got recipes, but we got
even more . . . a first class education of farms and the struggles to keep them
going.
We hope this collection of recipes brings
enjoyment to all who use them, and a bit more recognition to the farmers of
Vermont. Every time we use one, we'll think of the friendly people who gave them
to us and thank them . . .
